Further Explain, STEM App?

I understand this app needs to be rooted towards, STEM but what type of app should it be? What is its purpose

  I believe that the challenge is in app development itself, the contest enables students to learn about STEM throughout their app's development. In other words, the intro to STEM is the challenge itself.
